Product Details

Bastion is a black cap-toe service boot made with shell cordovan. A cap-toe seam divides the front panel from the vamp and gives the toe a clearly defined outline.

Leather and finish

The upper is shell cordovan, with horse leather lining and a cowhide insole.

Construction and sole

Goodyear-welted construction is paired with a leather sole with Vibram® rubber patches. The listed heel height is 5 cm.

Customers praised the shell cordovan leather's deep finish and structured Goodyear welt construction. The boots offer versatility with dark denim or wool trousers, though they require break-in time. "More presence than a standard black dress boot," with a heavier build that feels solid and practical for everyday wear.

These have more presence than a standard black dress boot without looking overly flashy. I’ve worn them with dark denim and wool trousers and both worked well. The higher heel took me a little time to get used to.

The Goodyear welt construction was one of the reasons I chose this style. Everything feels sturdy and structured, and the sole has a good amount of grip. I’d recommend giving them some time to soften up before wearing them for a full day.

The shell cordovan has a different look from regular calfskin, especially once the light hits it. I also like the contrast from the camel-colored laces. They’re not lightweight, but that wasn’t really what I was looking for with this pair.

I really like the shape of these boots. The cap toe keeps them looking clean enough for nicer outfits, while the heavier sole makes them feel more practical for everyday wear. The leather was pretty firm during the first few wears.

The cordovan leather has a really deep black finish and feels substantial in hand. These are definitely heavier than my regular dress shoes, but the weight makes them feel very solid. They took a little time to break in.
