Product Details

Holden is a deep red chukka boot made with shell cordovan. The ankle-height chukka profile combines a compact upper with lace-up fastening.

Leather and finish

The upper is shell cordovan, with horse leather lining and a cowhide insole. The wash is applied to the assembled shoe, making it part of the finish on this pair.

Construction and sole

Goodyear-welted construction is paired with a leather sole with Vibram® rubber patches. The listed heel height is 5 cm.

After a few wears, I’m starting to like these even more. The leather is developing some nice natural creasing and the deep red works well with darker outfits. They were stiff right out of the box, but the fit has improved as they’ve broken in.

I was a little unsure about ordering red boots, but the shade is much more understated in person. The shell cordovan gives them a lot of character, especially once they start picking up some wear. They’re not lightweight, so keep that in mind.

The leather feels substantial and has a nice natural shine without looking overly polished. I’ve mostly worn these with black denim and charcoal pants. They needed some break-in time around the ankle, but nothing too bad.

These have a really distinctive look without having a lot of extra details. The camel-colored laces work surprisingly well with the dark red leather. The heel is a little higher than what I normally wear, but I got used to it pretty quickly.

The color is what got me interested, and it didn’t disappoint. It’s more of a deep burgundy-red than a bright red, which makes it much easier to wear. Took me a few wears to get comfortable with the firmer leather.

I really like the short chukka shape on these. The cordovan has a lot of depth to it and looks different depending on the light. They’re definitely heavier than my everyday boots, but they feel very solid.

The deep red color is darker and richer in person than I expected. It stands out without being too flashy, especially with dark jeans. The leather was pretty firm at first, but it’s starting to loosen up nicely.
