Stanton is a coffee brown service boot made with shell cordovan. The lace-up boot profile brings the fastening and stitched panels into view above the trouser hem.

Leather and finish

The upper is shell cordovan, with horse leather lining and a cowhide insole.

Construction and sole

Goodyear-welted construction is paired with a leather sole with rubber patches. The listed heel height is 5 cm.

I’ve been wearing these mostly with dark denim and wool trousers, and they work really well with both. The Goodyear welt construction gives them a sturdy feel without making the shape look too bulky. They needed some break-in time around the ankle.

The leather is what stood out to me most. You can see some natural variation in the surface, especially around the creases, which gives the boots a more lived-in look. The heel felt a little higher than what I normally wear, but it still feels stable.

These feel very solid and substantial on foot. The plain-toe design keeps them clean looking, while the washed finish gives the leather some personality. They’re definitely heavier than my usual boots, but I got used to that quickly.

The coffee brown cordovan has a lot more character in person than I expected. I really like the subtle variation in the color and finish. They were pretty stiff the first couple of wears, but they’re starting to break in nicely.
