Ridgeway is a coffee brown tall lace-up boot made with horse leather. The lace-up boot profile brings the fastening and stitched panels into view above the trouser hem.

Leather and finish

The upper is horse leather, with horse leather lining and a cowhide insole. The wash is applied to the assembled shoe, making it part of the finish on this pair.

Construction and sole

Cemented construction is paired with a leather sole with rubber patches.

I like the balance between dressy and rugged on this pair. The taller lace-up design gives them some character, but they still look clean enough for the office. The sole has a bit of weight to it, which took me a day or two to get used to.

The color is what stood out to me first. It’s darker than a typical tan boot, so it works well with most of my fall and winter clothes. I do wish the leather were a little softer right out of the box.

I bought these mainly for work and dinner outings, and they’ve been easy to dress up. The brown leather has a nice finish without being too shiny. The heel area needed a short break-in period for me.

These have a really clean shape for a taller boot. The sole feels solid and gives the shoe a sturdy feel without looking too bulky. They’re a little heavier than my regular dress shoes, but still comfortable for daily wear.

The coffee brown leather looks richer in person than it does online. I like that the color works with both dark jeans and navy trousers. They felt a little stiff around the ankle at first, but that improved after a few wears.
