Product Details

Quarry is a black gray cap-toe service boot made with horse leather. A cap-toe seam divides the front panel from the vamp and gives the toe a clearly defined outline.

Leather and finish

The upper is horse leather, with horse leather lining and a cowhide insole. The wash is applied to the assembled shoe, making it part of the finish on this pair.

Construction and sole

Cemented construction is paired with a leather sole with rubber patches.

Customers praised the black-gray leather boots for their versatile styling and sturdy construction. The unique color tone is "more interesting than a plain black shoe" and works well from work to dinner. Shoppers noted the leather requires break-in time and feels initially firm, but the boots are comfortable once worn in.

I wasn’t sure about the gray tone from the photos, but it’s pretty subtle in person. The color makes them easier to wear than I expected. The leather was slightly stiff out of the box and needed some break-in time.

These have become an easy pair for work and dinner. The shape is clean enough to dress up, but they still look good with casual pants. They’re not especially lightweight, but I don’t find them uncomfortable.

The leather has a nice finish and the black-gray shade is more interesting than a plain black shoe. They feel sturdy underfoot and the outsole has decent grip. Took me a few wears to get comfortable around the heel.

I’ve worn these with dark jeans and charcoal trousers and they work well with both. The cap-toe gives them a clean look without feeling overly formal. The sole is a little more substantial than I expected.

The black-gray color is what made me order these. It looks almost black indoors but you can see more of the gray tone in daylight. They felt a little firm at first, but nothing unusual for a structured leather shoe.
