Railman is a coffee brown moc-toe wedge boot made with horse leather. Moc-toe stitching follows the front of the shoe, outlining the toe panel and giving the upper a distinct shape.

Leather and finish

The upper is horse leather, with horse leather lining and a cowhide insole. The wash is applied to the assembled shoe, making it part of the finish on this pair.

Construction and sole

Goodyear-welted construction is paired with a leather sole with rubber patches.

I’ve been wearing these mostly with dark denim and they look great together. The moc-toe stitching gives them some character without making the design too busy. The heel took me a couple of wears to get used to.

These feel substantial as soon as you put them on. The rubber sole has good grip and the whole shoe feels very stable underfoot. They’re heavier than my usual casual shoes, but not in a bad way.

The coffee brown leather has a lot more depth in person than it does in the photos. I especially like the natural variation in the horse leather. They felt pretty firm at first, but they’re starting to loosen up after a few wears.
