Product Details

Bastion is a coffee brown cap-toe service boot made with shell cordovan. A cap-toe seam divides the front panel from the vamp and gives the toe a clearly defined outline.

Leather and finish

The upper is shell cordovan, with horse leather lining and a cowhide insole.

Construction and sole

Goodyear-welted construction is paired with a leather sole with Vibram® rubber patches. The listed heel height is 5 cm.

How to wear it

Pair the boots with straight denim or twill trousers. Turn up the hem to show the upper and its toe or panel detailing.

The leather is the standout for me. It has a smooth, rich finish and doesn’t look like regular brown calfskin. They aren’t lightweight shoes, but the weight feels appropriate for how substantial they are.

The Goodyear welt was one of the things that caught my attention with this pair. The construction feels solid and the sole has good grip. I noticed some stiffness around the ankle during the first few wears, but it started easing up.

I really like the finish on the leather. It has a richer look than most brown boots I own, and the camel-colored laces work well with it. They’re definitely on the heavier side, but they feel sturdy.

The coffee brown color has a lot of depth and looks even better in natural light. The cordovan feels substantial and the boots have a really solid build. They were pretty firm at first, so I’d give them some time to break in.
