Product Details

Briar is a coffee brown chelsea boot made with shell cordovan. Elastic side panels define the pull-on silhouette and leave the front of the boot free of laces.

Leather and finish

The upper is shell cordovan, with horse leather lining and a cowhide insole. The wash is applied to the assembled shoe, making it part of the finish on this pair.

Construction and sole

Goodyear-welted construction is paired with a leather sole with Vibram® rubber patches. The listed heel height is 5 cm.

The Goodyear welt construction was one of the main reasons I was interested in this pair. The sole feels sturdy and has good grip compared with my smoother dress shoes. I’d give them a few wears before using them for a full day.

I really like the finish on the leather. It has a smooth, substantial feel without looking overly glossy. These are definitely heavier than my regular dress shoes, but they feel very solid on foot.

The coffee brown cordovan has a really rich color in person. It looks darker indoors and picks up more depth in natural light. The leather felt pretty firm at first, but that’s what I expected from a heavier pair like this.
