Mariner is a gray boat shoe made with roughout shell cordovan. The boat-shoe shape places the lacing low on the upper for a compact, casual profile.

Leather and finish

The upper is roughout shell cordovan, with horse leather lining and a cowhide insole.

Construction and sole

Goodyear-welted construction is paired with a leather sole with Vibram® rubber patches. The listed heel height is 5 cm.

How to wear it

The craftsmanship is easy to notice when you hold them. The stitching and sole feel very sturdy, and the shoes have a nice structure. The break-in period was a little longer than my lighter shoes.

These have a nice balance between casual and dressed up. I’ve worn them to the office with chinos and also on weekends with denim. The suede attracts some dust, so I keep a brush nearby.

I like the texture of the horse leather and the way the gray color changes under different lighting. The welted construction gives them a solid feel. They needed a few wears to become more comfortable.

The gray suede leather has a really unique look in person. It feels more premium than regular suede and works well with jeans or chinos. The shoes are a little heavier than I expected, but they feel very durable.
